Community Outreach

Second Church is an active member of the Manchester Area Conference of Churches, known best for its ecumenical activities, especially The Way of the Cross, a procession across the central portion of Manchester that takes place each year to commemorate the events of Good Friday. Second Church also participates in MACC's regular ecumenical services and annually pledges to its budget.

We also help staff MACC's soup kitchen, and throughout the year, sponsor small fund-raisers such as bake sales to help maintain its operations.

Church members also participate in the local Habitat for Humanity program and Christmas in April, a similar program through which townspeople gather to refurbish the homes of the less-fortunate at no cost.

The United Church of Christ is active in its own worldwide missions activities, and Second Church consistently contributes to its programs.

Seasonal Sharing is the time of year the congregation collects gifts and food baskets for families in need in the community. These offerings are primarily collected for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
