A message from the pastor
It is indeed a privilege for me to
introduce you to our church. Second Congregational Church, is a growing,
spirit-filled place to worship, and engage in Christian fellowship. We celebrate
God's grace through the teachings of scriptures, song, dance, outreach, social
gatherings and a mutual love toward one another.
Second Congregational Church is a vibrant place, one that holds the congregational
traditions, but also incorporates the progressiveness of the United Church of
Christ in it's daily life. I invite you to come and join us.
- Reverend Kathy Faber

Church History Second Congregational Church was organized in 1850. The first church building was dedicated in January of 1851. Some 37 years later, the present structure, with a sanctuary that seats more than 300, was constructed on the same site as the original building. In 1957, an addition that includes offices, a chapel, and activity rooms was dedicated. The addition has undergone several renovations over the years. The church's stained glass windows were restored in 1998.
Second Church is a member of the United Church of Christ, and over the years, it has been active in ecumenical activities through both the UCC and the local Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC).
The Reverend Kathy Faber is the 23rd full-time pastor - and the first woman - to serve the church. A native of Connecticut, she holds a master's degree in counseling from Southern Connecticut State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University.
